winter boots and spring shoes

A series of sketches of footware, one each from February, March, and April, at the Friday night community school. I'd have expected a gradual change from mostly boots to mostly shoes by now, but with snow still a regular occurrence, it's been a slow transition.

cycling shoes

Two pairs of cycling shoes: Shimano road shoes, carbon soled (who knew such things existed...?), found for $10 at a local thrift store, and Mavic SPD shoes, my first pair of cycling shoes bought last year as I made the leap of faith to clipless. Now I need road pedals and cleats...

The view from the cash cage, and a bill counting machine... from the late night casino shift that just ended at 4am. Thank goodness it's the weekend.

Break Forth 2017

The Break Forth Canada conference is our annual retreat for my wife and me... this year's event returned to the Shaw Conference Centre, and we enjoyed the weekend with 14 other friends being renewed and equipped...

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called;  one Lord, one faith, one baptism;  one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

twigs 1

Pruning the trees in the yard makes me appreciate the small things, including the uniqueness of each and every "joint" of our trees.

evenings after the break

The kids are back to their routine after a few days' break... spending some time doing homework, and some time watching their favourite DVDs.

rhubarb in the summer

Some quick gestural sketches from the summer... rhubarb leaves from Sunnyside Camp, a nice subject for loosening up a little.

a pumpkin

On Halloween, the eve of All Saint's Day... an opportunity to remember all who paved the way for us, and give thanks.

Nina Haggerty Centre during Kaleido

My son crafts a paper puppet (a Transformer) at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts, helped by staff from the Edmonton Public Library, during the Kaleido Family Arts Festival.
